NDOW
is the boating safety, education and enforcement agency for
the state of Nevada. The boating safety office is responsible
for boating education, safety and law enforcement. Our ultimate
goal is to create a safe boating environment and experience
for Nevada boaters.
That means helping you learn about the basics of boating safety, including proper fitting lifejackets and the rules of the water.

Children under 13 must wear life jackets and a certified
boating safety course is required for all operators of vessels
powered by a motor over 15 horsepower on interstate waters
(like Lakes Mead, Topaz and Tahoe) and who were born on or
after January 1, 1983.

born on or after January 1, 1983 will need to have completed
a boating education course to operate a motorboat of
more than 15 horsepower on Nevada's interstate waters.

A VOICE BEHIND BOATING SAFETY IN NEVADA

Dave
Patula, a game warden stationed in Reno Nevada, has
served for more than 29 years for the Department of
Wildlife. Besides boating law enforcement, he has
been the voice behind Bobby the
Boat for almost ten years.
Dave has a dedication to boating safety, especially regarding children and life jackets. You can always find Dave talking to parents, schools and kids - through Bobby - about the importance of lifejackets, boating safety and eduction.
